Source for every Amazon rate on this page: Amazon Australia seller fees (sell.amazon.com.au/pricing), read 12 October 2026. Amazon quotes these fees in AUD excluding GST and can change them at any time. The rates below include the reductions Amazon made on 10 June 2026.
How Amazon works out your FBA fee in Australia
Three things set the fulfilment fee on an Amazon.com.au unit: the size tier the packaged unit falls into, its shipping weight, and whether the item price is under A$13. Get any one of those wrong in your spreadsheet and every margin figure after it is wrong too.
- Size tier. Amazon compares the packaged dimensions and unit weight with each tier's maximums. If any one side or the weight is over, the unit moves up a tier.
- Shipping weight. Envelope tiers are charged on unit weight. Parcel and oversize tiers are charged on the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight, where dimensional weight in kg is length × width × height in cm ÷ 4,000. Amazon rounds up to the nearest gram.
- The A$13 line. Items priced under A$13 pay a lower rate. In every envelope and standard parcel band on Amazon's table, that rate is A$0.91 less.
The fee covers picking, packing, delivery, customer service and returns. Storage is charged separately; see Amazon storage fees in Australia.
Envelope tiers (ex GST)
| Size tier | Max size and weight | Unit weight | Item price A$13 or more | Item price under A$13 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small envelope | 20 x 15 x 1 cm, 75 g | 0 to 75 g | A$4.55 | A$3.64 |
| Standard envelope | 33 x 23 x 2.5 cm, 475 g | 0 to 75 g | A$4.58 | A$3.67 |
| 76 to 225 g | A$5.26 | A$4.35 | ||
| 226 to 475 g | A$5.61 | A$4.70 | ||
| Large envelope | 33 x 23 x 5 cm, 975 g | 0 to 225 g | A$6.78 | A$5.87 |
| 226 to 475 g | A$7.02 | A$6.11 | ||
| 476 to 975 g | A$8.29 | A$7.38 |
Standard parcel tier (ex GST)
Maximum 45 x 34 x 20 cm and 12 kg. Shipping weight is the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight.
| Shipping weight | Item price A$13 or more | Item price under A$13 |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 250 g | A$7.34 | A$6.43 |
| 251 to 500 g | A$7.64 | A$6.73 |
| 501 g to 1 kg | A$9.22 | A$8.31 |
| 1.001 to 1.5 kg | A$9.68 | A$8.77 |
| 1.501 to 2 kg | A$9.81 | A$8.90 |
| 2.001 to 3 kg | A$9.86 | A$8.95 |
| 3.001 to 4 kg | A$10.18 | A$9.27 |
| 4.001 to 5 kg | A$10.19 | A$9.28 |
| 5.001 to 6 kg | A$11.10 | A$10.19 |
| 6.001 to 8 kg | A$11.26 | A$10.35 |
| 8.001 to 10 kg | A$11.27 | A$10.36 |
| 10.001 to 11 kg | A$13.80 | A$12.89 |
| 11.001 to 12 kg | A$13.93 | A$13.02 |
Look at the flat spots. 1.5 kg to 3 kg costs between A$9.68 and A$9.86, and 3 kg to 5 kg is A$10.18 to A$10.19. The steps that hurt are 500 g to 501 g (A$1.58 more), 5 kg to 5.001 kg (A$0.91 more) and 10 kg to 10.001 kg (A$2.53 more). If your product sits just over one of those lines, a smaller carton or lighter inserts can pay for itself quickly.
Oversize tiers
Small oversize goes up to 61 x 46 x 46 cm and 2 kg, starting at A$9.94 (A$9.03 under A$13). Amazon's own small oversize example is a baby's cot at 60 x 20 x 18 cm and 1.5 kg. Its dimensional weight is 5.4 kg, so it is billed at 5.4 kg: A$10.72. Standard oversize starts at A$12.30, and large oversize (over 105 x 60 x 60 cm) starts at A$14.71 but is invitation-only for now. Products over 116 x 116 x 102 cm or 23 kg are not accepted into FBA, apart from listed exceptions. The full oversize weight bands are on Amazon's page.
Dimensional weight, worked through five products
The first two rows are Amazon's own examples. The rest use the same rules on common products, so you can see where dimensional weight costs real money.
| Product | Packaged size and weight | Tier | Dimensional weight | Billed on | FBA fee (A$13+) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phone case | 20 x 14 x 1 cm, 75 g | Small envelope | n/a (envelopes use unit weight) | 75 g | A$4.55 |
| Steam iron (Amazon's own example) | 32 x 17 x 14 cm, 1,360 g | Parcel | 7,616 ÷ 4,000 = 1.904 kg | 1.904 kg | A$9.81 |
| Foam yoga block | 23 x 15 x 10 cm, 350 g | Parcel | 3,450 ÷ 4,000 = 0.863 kg | 0.863 kg | A$9.22 (A$7.64 if it were billed on its 350 g) |
| Boxed cushion insert | 45 x 34 x 20 cm, 900 g | Parcel | 30,600 ÷ 4,000 = 7.65 kg | 7.65 kg | A$11.26 (A$9.22 on its 900 g) |
| Notebook, 2.6 cm thick | 33 x 23 x 2.6 cm, 200 g | Large envelope | n/a | 200 g | A$6.78 (A$5.26 if it were 2.5 cm) |
The cushion is the expensive lesson. It weighs 900 g but takes up the space of a 7.65 kg box, so it pays A$11.26 instead of A$9.22: A$2.04 a unit. At 300 units a month that is A$612 a month for air. Vacuum-packing it to 45 x 34 x 10 cm halves the dimensional weight to 3.825 kg, which drops the fee to A$10.18.
The notebook shows the envelope trap. One millimetre over 2.5 cm pushes it out of standard envelope into large envelope, from A$5.26 to A$6.78. That is A$1.52 a unit, or A$1,520 on 1,000 units.
The A$13 line on a parcel item
Take a 200 g kitchen gadget in a standard parcel box, in Home and Kitchen (13% referral). These figures leave out GST to keep the comparison clean.
| Item price | Referral fee (13%) | FBA fee | Left after referral and FBA |
|---|---|---|---|
| A$12.99 | A$1.69 | A$6.43 | A$4.87 |
| A$13.00 | A$1.69 | A$7.34 | A$3.97 |
| A$13.99 | A$1.82 | A$7.34 | A$4.83 |
| A$14.04 | A$1.83 | A$7.34 | A$4.87 |
Moving from A$12.99 to A$13.00 costs you 90 cents a unit. You have to charge A$14.04 before you keep as much as you did at A$12.99, so any price from A$13.00 to A$14.03 leaves you worse off. Amazon's page doesn't say whether "item price" here means the GST-inclusive shelf price, so check the fee preview on your ASIN at both prices before you reprice. The Amazon Australia seller fees page runs the same line on a small envelope item.
What the FBA fee does to your ad budget
Every dollar of FBA fee comes straight out of break-even ACoS. On a A$34.95 product, the A$2.04 the cushion loses to dimensional weight is 5.8 points of ACoS. Put your real fee into the Amazon profit margin calculator and then into the PPC bid calculator. For a category-by-category view, see break-even ACoS by category.
If a cheaper fee tier lets you bid harder, track whether the extra spend actually moves keyword rank. The Amazon rank tracker page has the free manual method and log template.
Questions sellers ask
How much is the Amazon FBA fee in Australia in 2026?
It depends on size tier, shipping weight and item price. On Amazon.com.au it runs from A$4.55 for a small envelope item (A$3.64 if the item is under A$13) to A$13.93 for an 11 to 12 kg standard parcel, before oversize. All of Amazon's rates are quoted ex GST.
How do I calculate dimensional weight for Amazon Australia?
Multiply the packaged length, width and height in centimetres and divide by 4,000. The result is in kilograms. Parcel and oversize units are billed on whichever is greater, dimensional weight or unit weight. Envelope units are always billed on unit weight.
Is the Amazon Australia FBA fee cheaper under A$13?
Yes. Since 10 June 2026, items priced under A$13 pay a lower rate. In every envelope and standard parcel band it is A$0.91 less than the standard rate.
Do Amazon Australia FBA fees include GST?
No. Amazon quotes its FBA fees excluding GST. Whether GST is added to your fee invoices depends on the tax details on your account. Check the Tax Document Library in Seller Central.
Does the FBA fee include storage?
No. Monthly storage and the aged inventory surcharge are charged separately, by cubic metre. See the Amazon storage fees in Australia page.
