Amazon Australia seller fees in 2026, with the maths done in AUD.
Every rate on this page is copied from Amazon's published Australian fee schedule and dated. The three products further down show what is left of a sale after referral, FBA and storage, and what that leaves you to spend per click.
Source for every Amazon rate below: Amazon Australia seller fees (sell.amazon.com.au/pricing), read 10 October 2026. Amazon quotes all of these fees in AUD excluding GST and can change them at any time. Your Seller Central fee preview is the final word for a specific ASIN.
The fees that hit an Amazon.com.au FBA order
| Fee | 2026 rate (ex GST) | How it is charged |
|---|---|---|
| Professional selling plan | A$49.95 per month | Charged in months you have active listings. Needed to advertise and to qualify for top placement on product detail pages. |
| Individual selling plan | A$0.99 per unit sold | No monthly fee. Amazon pitches it at sellers moving fewer than 50 items a month. |
| Referral fee | 6% to 15% by category | A percentage of the total sales price: everything the buyer pays, including delivery and gift wrap. No minimum, no maximum. |
| Media closing fee | A$1.00 per media item | Books, DVD, music, software, video, video games and consoles. |
| FBA fulfilment fee | From A$3.64 (small envelope, item under A$13) to A$13.93 (12 kg parcel) | Per unit, by size tier and shipping weight. Includes pick, pack, delivery, customer service and returns. |
| Monthly storage, standard size | A$37.00 per m³ (Jan to Sep), A$51.80 per m³ (Oct to Dec) | Daily average volume of your stock in Amazon fulfilment centres. |
| Monthly storage, oversize | A$34.20 per m³ (Jan to Sep), A$48.00 per m³ (Oct to Dec) | Same basis as standard. |
| Aged inventory surcharge | A$155/m³ at 271 to 300 days, A$175/m³ at 301 to 330, A$185/m³ at 331 to 365, then A$370/m³ or A$0.12 per unit (whichever is greater) | Assessed on the 15th of each month on stock aged past 270 days. |
If you sell in other Amazon stores through a merged global account, Amazon charges the equivalent of US$39.99 a month split across the stores where you have active listings, instead of the A$49.95 Australian plan.
On 10 June 2026 Amazon cut selected FBA and Multi-Channel Fulfilment fees by category, size tier and item price. If your margin sheet was built before June, the FBA line is probably overstated. Re-pull the fee preview before you reprice.
Referral fees by category on Amazon.com.au
Where a category has two rates, read the wording carefully. "If A$20 or less" means the whole sale is charged at one rate depending on price. "On the portion" means the rate steps, like a tax bracket.

One difference from the US store that matters for cheap items: Australia has no minimum referral fee. The US store charges a minimum of US$0.30 per item in many categories (sell.amazon.com/pricing). A A$9 accessory on Amazon.com.au pays only its percentage.
FBA fulfilment fees: the A$13 line and dimensional weight
Amazon.com.au now has two FBA rate columns. Items priced at A$13 or more pay the standard rate. Items priced under A$13 pay a lower rate, A$0.91 less in every envelope and parcel band shown below. Envelopes are charged on unit weight. Parcels and oversize items are charged on the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight, where dimensional weight (kg) = length × width × height in cm ÷ 4,000.
| Size tier | Max dimensions and weight | Shipping weight | Item price A$13 or more | Item price under A$13 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small envelope | 20 x 15 x 1 cm, 75 g | 0 to 75 g | A$4.55 | A$3.64 |
| Standard envelope | 33 x 23 x 2.5 cm, 475 g | 0 to 75 g | A$4.58 | A$3.67 |
| 76 to 225 g | A$5.26 | A$4.35 | ||
| 226 to 475 g | A$5.61 | A$4.70 | ||
| Large envelope | 33 x 23 x 5 cm, 975 g | 0 to 225 g | A$6.78 | A$5.87 |
| 226 to 475 g | A$7.02 | A$6.11 | ||
| 476 to 975 g | A$8.29 | A$7.38 |
| Parcel (max 45 x 34 x 20 cm, 12 kg) | Item price A$13 or more | Item price under A$13 |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 250 g | A$7.34 | A$6.43 |
| 251 to 500 g | A$7.64 | A$6.73 |
| 501 g to 1 kg | A$9.22 | A$8.31 |
| 1.001 to 1.5 kg | A$9.68 | A$8.77 |
| 1.501 to 2 kg | A$9.81 | A$8.90 |
| 2.001 to 3 kg | A$9.86 | A$8.95 |
| 3.001 to 4 kg | A$10.18 | A$9.27 |
| 4.001 to 5 kg | A$10.19 | A$9.28 |
| 5.001 to 6 kg | A$11.10 | A$10.19 |
| 6.001 to 8 kg | A$11.26 | A$10.35 |
| 8.001 to 10 kg | A$11.27 | A$10.36 |
| 10.001 to 11 kg | A$13.80 | A$12.89 |
| 11.001 to 12 kg | A$13.93 | A$13.02 |
Oversize tiers start above 45 x 34 x 20 cm or 12 kg and have their own table on Amazon's page. Products over 116 x 116 x 102 cm or 23 kg are not accepted into FBA except for listed exceptions.
How GST changes these numbers
- Amazon's fees are quoted ex GST. The plan, referral, FBA and storage figures above all exclude GST (Amazon).
- Registration is compulsory at A$75,000 GST turnover. The ATO counts current turnover (this month plus the previous 11) or projected turnover (this month plus the next 11). You have 21 days to register once you cross it (ATO, Registering for GST).
- If you are registered, your shelf price includes GST you do not keep. GST is 10%, so one eleventh of a GST-inclusive price goes to the ATO. On A$39.95, that is A$3.63, leaving A$36.32 of revenue.
- The referral fee is still worked out on the full shelf price, because Amazon charges it on the total amount the buyer pays.
- Imported low-value goods are a different case. Amazon collects and remits 10% GST on items with a customs value of A$1,000 or less that ship from outside Australia to Australian customers. When you use FBA in Australia, your GST obligations are yours, not Amazon's (Amazon Australia selling guide, PDF).
- Check what is actually on your fee invoices. Whether GST is added to your Amazon fee invoices depends on the tax details on your account. The invoices sit in the Tax Document Library in Seller Central. If GST is added and you cannot claim it back, it is a real cost and belongs in the fee lines below.
This page is fee arithmetic, not tax advice. Your accountant decides how GST applies to your structure.
Worked example 1: a 300 g supplement at A$39.95
Category Beauty, Health and Personal Care, priced above A$20, so 13% referral. Boxed at 12 x 7 x 7 cm and 300 g. That does not fit the 2.5 cm or 5 cm envelope heights, so it is a parcel. Dimensional weight is 12 × 7 × 7 ÷ 4,000 = 0.147 kg, lighter than the unit weight, so the 300 g unit weight sets the band: 251 to 500 g, A$7.64. The seller is GST-registered. Landed cost, returns allowance and conversion rate are assumptions, marked as such.
| Line | Per unit | Working |
|---|---|---|
| Shelf price (GST-inclusive) | A$39.95 | Seller price |
| GST to the ATO | −A$3.63 | 39.95 ÷ 11 |
| Revenue ex GST | A$36.32 | |
| Referral fee | −A$5.19 | 13% × 39.95 (charged on the shelf price) |
| FBA fulfilment fee | −A$7.64 | Parcel, 251 to 500 g, item price A$13 or more |
| Landed cost (assumed) | −A$6.80 | Product A$4.20, freight and duty A$1.60, prep and inbound A$1.00, ex GST |
| Storage | −A$0.05 | 588 cm³ = 0.000588 m³ × A$37.00 = A$0.022 a month, about 2.5 months of cover |
| Unsellable returns allowance (assumed) | −A$0.30 | Returns handling is inside the FBA fee; this covers stock you cannot resell |
| Contribution before ads | A$16.34 | 45.0% of revenue ex GST |
| Break-even ACoS | 40.9% | 16.34 ÷ 39.95. Divide by the shelf price because that is the sales figure ACoS is measured against |
| Break-even CPC at 12% conversion (assumed) | A$1.96 | 16.34 × 0.12 |
| Max CPC keeping A$6.00 profit a unit | A$1.24 | (16.34 − 6.00) × 0.12 |
Same product, seller not registered for GST and paying 10% GST on the referral and FBA fees with no way to claim it: revenue is the full A$39.95, the referral fee costs A$5.71 and the FBA fee costs A$8.40. Contribution is A$18.69 before any unrecoverable import GST on the stock. Below the A$75,000 threshold the unregistered seller keeps more per unit. Once turnover crosses it, registration is not optional, so price for the registered numbers before you get there.
Worked example 2: a 1.2 kg kitchen item at A$59.00
A stainless-steel mixing bowl set, Home and Kitchen at a flat 13%. The bowls weigh 1.2 kg, but the box is 30 x 22 x 12 cm. Dimensional weight is 30 × 22 × 12 ÷ 4,000 = 1.98 kg, which is heavier than the unit weight, so Amazon charges the 1.501 to 2 kg band (A$9.81), not the 1.001 to 1.5 kg band (A$9.68). Shaving 2 cm off the box height would bring dimensional weight to 1.65 kg. That is the same band here, so the box is not worth redesigning for fees alone. Run that check before you pay for new packaging.
| Line | Per unit | Working |
|---|---|---|
| Shelf price (GST-inclusive) | A$59.00 | |
| GST to the ATO | −A$5.36 | 59.00 ÷ 11 |
| Revenue ex GST | A$53.64 | |
| Referral fee | −A$7.67 | 13% × 59.00 |
| FBA fulfilment fee | −A$9.81 | Parcel, 1.501 to 2 kg on dimensional weight |
| Landed cost (assumed) | −A$14.50 | Ex GST |
| Storage | −A$0.59 | 0.00792 m³ × A$37.00 = A$0.29 a month, about 2 months of cover |
| Unsellable returns allowance (assumed) | −A$0.80 | |
| Contribution before ads | A$20.27 | 37.8% of revenue ex GST |
| Break-even ACoS | 34.4% | 20.27 ÷ 59.00 |
| Break-even CPC at 10% conversion (assumed) | A$2.03 | 20.27 × 0.10 |
| Max CPC keeping A$8.00 profit a unit | A$1.23 | (20.27 − 8.00) × 0.10 |
From October to December the storage rate rises to A$51.80 per m³, so this box costs A$0.41 a month instead of A$0.29. Two months of cover in Q4 is A$0.82 a unit, which takes A$0.23 off contribution. Small per unit, but it compounds if stock sits past 270 days and picks up the aged inventory surcharge. This product is carried through to bids, row by row, in the PPC bid worked example.
Worked example 3: the A$13 price line on a small envelope item
A 70 g pack of reusable cable ties in an 18 x 12 x 1 cm sleeve: small envelope, Home and Kitchen at 13%, landed cost A$2.40 (assumed), GST-registered seller. Compare A$12.95 with A$13.95.
| Line | At A$12.95 | At A$13.95 |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue ex GST | A$11.77 | A$12.68 |
| Referral fee (13%) | −A$1.68 | −A$1.81 |
| FBA fulfilment fee, small envelope | −A$3.64 (under A$13 rate) | −A$4.55 (standard rate) |
| Landed cost (assumed) | −A$2.40 | −A$2.40 |
| Storage and unsellable allowance | −A$0.16 | −A$0.16 |
| Contribution before ads | A$3.89 | A$3.76 |
| Break-even ACoS | 30.0% | 27.0% |
| Break-even CPC at 15% conversion (assumed) | A$0.58 | A$0.56 |
Raising the price by a dollar lowers contribution per unit by 13 cents, because the item crosses into the standard FBA rate. For items priced just above A$13, test the price just under it before you try anything else. Either way, a break-even CPC under 60 cents means ads can only work on very tight, high-converting terms.
The three products side by side
| Product | Shelf price | Amazon fees (referral + FBA) | Fees as % of shelf price | Contribution | Break-even ACoS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 300 g supplement | A$39.95 | A$12.83 | 32.1% | A$16.34 | 40.9% |
| 1.2 kg kitchen set | A$59.00 | A$17.48 | 29.6% | A$20.27 | 34.4% |
| 70 g envelope item | A$12.95 | A$5.32 | 41.1% | A$3.89 | 30.0% |
Fixed costs are left out of contribution. The A$49.95 plan fee works out to A$0.17 a unit at 300 units a month and A$1.00 a unit at 50, which is why a low-volume catalogue feels the plan fee more than it expects.
